There is always more than one way to perceive something. Our minds will make assumptions regarding experiences in order to overcome the vagueness of information. These assumptions can be influenced by an individual’s prior encounters, or lack thereof, and will often dictate our understanding. It is because of this that a singular moment can be interpreted so incomparably. As improvisational artists, the question becomes what is one’s instinctual response to first, the sensory input and subsequently, the assumptions and classifications that naturally follow. Using improvised movement, dancers will explore their own personal interpretations of sensory input while challenging the audience to shift and share their own experiences. Featuring live music by Tom Infande and artwork by Franklin Reyes and Nico Lucido (all proceeds from art sales go directly to the artists).
Please note: Flashing and moving lights/images will be used during this event. It is also highly recommended that you bring your own pair of headphones and device with a precomposed playlist that is at least 15-20 minutes in length to experience some performances.
